DVDOWN UNDER has been here since the beginning of DVD in Australia. Below is a quick run down of our company's 10+ years of history and evolution.
- Late 1997 is when we started off as a simple DVD news & review website, then known as DVD Station.
- Early 1998, we changed our name to closer reflect the Australian DVD market and, rather fittingly, came up with DVDOWN UNDER as our brand name.
Several Months later, we decided to expand into retail. We made an off-shoot of DVDOWN UNDER called....DVD Station, which became our online store for almost 9 years following.
Through DVD Station we initally offering Blank DVD cases, before moving onto the incredibly popular plastic DVD sleeves designed specifically for the original cardboard case used to house Warner DVDs.
Audio and Video cables soon followed.
- March 2003 is when we made our first move into selling actual DVD movies, starting with a series of awesome cult titles from Simitar DVD (who incidentally where THE first Australian company to release DVDs in this country to coincide with the release of the RCA branded DVD Player.)
- October 2004, just one year later, we expanded yet again, offering the complete range of region 4 DVDs available from local distributors in the land down under.
- Year 2005 saw many-a-change for the Home Theatre/Cinema industry with the advent of 2.35 Full screen movies for the home, and DVDOWN UNDER was there all the way offering "2.35" Anamorphic Lenses from Prismasonic, as well as "2.35:1" Projector screens from LP Morgan.....Now, you could truly request no more black bars top and bottom of your big screen!.... No longer was it a requirement to leave the comfort of your home to go out to the movies to experience the super-wide movie images, sans the black bars top and bottom, with movies like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. With the correct equipment, you could have just that in your own home theatre/cinema room.
And of course, if you are now practically living in your Home Theatre/Cinema, why not do it in ultimate comfort, which is why we decided to add Topform Home Theatre seating to our ever expanding product list.
- Year 2006 soon rolled around and the excellent Calibre Vantage HD video processsor [with Realta HQV processing] was added to our "toy" list to celebrate the New Year in Style.
Toward the end of 2006, High Definition discs were all the talk. DVDOWN UNDER added both HD DVD,and Blu-ray movies to an ever-growning catalogue of goodies.
- August 2007 saw DVDOWN UNDER become an official reseller for the excellent USA made Panamorph lenses
- November 2007 After 9 years of retailing, news'ing and reviewing, we decided it was time for an overhaul. With a brand new website, we re-launched our retail division as DVDOWN UNDER, and our original news & review site was renamed cinema 1080 (under construction) to closer reflect the move to high definition.
Now, it's 2008 and we are just about to expand a little more, with the latest family members being the amazing value for money & performance 1080p High Definition Home Theatre projectors from Benq, as well as Samsung's range of Blu-ray/DVD players. (new listings/details coming very soon)
So there you have it. DVDOWN UNDER has been here since the beginning, and with over 10 years of industry experience under our belts have made sure to keep on top of the latest technologies and movie offerings for all of our customers to enjoy.

This is also the same for when you enter in your credit card details during the order process, you are doing so with SSL 128-bit encrpytion with GEOTRUST so it's a very safe process to pass over you details to us.

Multiple/Split order shipments are broken down to 4 categories of:

Pricing is based on the above values and are automatically calculated at the checkout for you.
If more than 1 item can be shipped within a single shipment, then postage prices will be reduced accordingly, seeing as split-order pricing is initially based on each individual preorder and backorder DVD item being shipped separately.
- POSTERS
POSTERS are packed in a hard cardboard cylindrical postpak and we pack a MAXIMUM of 4 single sized posters per postpak for best protection of the posters.
Star Trek - SUPERPOSTER counts as 3 single posters for packaging purposes.

DVDown Under will offer you a refund, exchange or store credit totalling up to the cost of goods only, with the following conditions applying to any/all combined order returns:-
- Incorrect goods received
Where DVDOWN UNDER has made an error with your order, we will absorb and refund all applicable postage charges once the incorrect supply of goods are returned to us and you are required to initally pay for the return postage charges.
The correct replacement goods will then only be shipped to you upon the safe & undamaged return of the unused and unopened incorrect goods only.
Return postage methods MUST at the very least be in the same manner as the goods where sent to you. This includes all registered/tracking options, and any insurance costs, unless otherwise pre-arranged with DVDOWN UNDER.
- Where you have decided you no longer wish to receive a particular item or order.
While in most instances we do not mind if you change your mind about goods you have received from DVDOWN UNDER within 7 days of your shipment being sent to you (14 days for international shipments), please know that the following conditions will apply to ALL orders that include items returns by you, the buyer.
THE BUYER will be responsible for all postage costs, as well as the safe and undamaged return of all unopened and unused applicable goods.
Where returned goods are lost, or damaged in transit THE BUYER will hold full responsibility and will be required to consult with the 3rd party shipment provider in an effort to obtain compensation in this instance. Under such circumstances, DVDOWN UNDER will not offer any form of refund, exchange or store credit.
This is in the same manner as DVDOWN UNDER applies when we send goods to all of our customers in good faith.
Return postage methods MUST at the very least be in the same manner as the goods where sent to you. This includes all registered/tracking options, and any insurance costs, unless otherwise pre-arranged with DVDOWN UNDER.
DVDOWN UNDER will only offer refund, exchange or store credit upto the value of the goods only. Postage charges incurred will NOT be refunded, due to shipment being a 3rd party service which is a non-refundable component.
Where postage costs have been included in the overall cost of your goods (or show a $0.00 value on your invoice), DVDOWN UNDER will deduct and apply this portion of your overall order total from the cost of the applicable items as incurred by the 3rd party shipment provider. This will allow us to calculate a revised value of the goods involved.
In instances where the combined item returns are equal to, or exceed $AUD250, DVDOWN UNDER will charge THE BUYER a 15% re-stocking fee to cover any or all costs of the products incurred with the processing of your order/s. Restocking fee only applies to the cost of the goods AFTER the applicable postage charges have been calculated and separated from your order/s.

The DVD and Blu-ray media available from DVDOWN UNDER is sourced from Australian distributors and as such conform to the Australia standards for DVD and Blu-ray.
Unless otherwise stated:
DVDs are coded for Region 4 in the PAL Television format
Blu-ray discs are coded for Region B.
Some titles will expand upon this with the inclusion of additional regional codes to allow playback in countries other than Australia, and a small number of DVD titles are formatted for the NTSC Television format.
If you are unsure of the region coding and/or TV format of a DVD or Blu-ray disc, please contact us before you make your purchase.

At DVDOWN UNDER we use REAL-TIME stock levels to show an up-to-date status for each item's availability.
Please see our stock status options below to help you determine the turn-around time in processing your order.
- IN-STOCK: Ships immediately
Stock is on-hand in our dispatch centre and usually ships within 24 hours (1 business day) of receipt of payment.
Orders placed before 1pm (Brisbane time) are usually shipped the same day for credit card payments.
Clearance Sale items: From time to time DVDown Under will offer exclusive clearance specials for items readily available for immediate shipping from our dispatch centre
Theses items are strictly available only while stock lasts, with current stock levels/pricing clearly shown on each applicable product's page.
Any discounted pricing will only be honoured for each ordered item that correctly shows the "in-stock (allocated immediately)" status for your completed/sumbitted order.
- Any items contained within your wishlist or shopping cart DO NOT secure you the discounted pricing for these clearance items.
- Items with a status of Order By Request / Available (aka Offsite Warehouse) / Preorder are based on current supplier pricing only and are therefore excluded from our own exclusive clearance sales.
- If available stock of a clearance sale item should run out in between the time you begin and complete the order process, the price of the item will automatically revert to the regular price, and the stock status will also automatically change. If this should occur, we will place a HOLD on your order until we have contacted you to confirm all details to allow for any necessary changes.

This stock is warehoused offsite for us and is delivered to our dispatch centre 2 to 3 times each week.
Orders placed on a weekday and prior to midday are typically expected to ship within 2 to 3 days.

These are items that are soon to be released by the distributor and are available to order from DVDOWN UNDER today.
All preorder releases are assigned an approximate DUE DATE and your order is expected to be dispatched within 1 to 2 days of this due date.
- ORDER BY REQUEST / BACK-ORDER
Our current catalogue of DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and Home Cinema products contains a massive 12955 items.
While it is not practical for us to keep all of these items readily on-hand and immediately available, we most certainly want to be able to offer you access to our massive catalogue of available products.
Items that show a status of ORDER BY REQUEST / BACK ORDER are listed as available from our distributors allowing us to order these items in upon customer order request.
Most of these items are usually available 5 to 28 days after your order is placed.
We currently receive ETA's on backorder items from our respective distributors on a weekly basic, though they are subject to change and offer only an approxiate expected re-stocking date. In our experience these ETA's are about 70% accurate.
- FUTURE RELEASES
From time to time advanced information is releases on upcoming titles and products. As a courtesy we will list these items when information is made available so that you may include them in your WISHLIST. You will then be informed by email of any changes to any selected wishlist items.

In a nutshell, STATION-TOKENS(tm) are DVDOWN UNDER's own version of Reward Points.
For every purchase you make, you receive STATION-TOKENS(tm) which can accumulate to even more STATION-TOKENS(tm).
So the more you buy, the more you can save on future purchases.
What are STATION-TOKENS(tm) Worth?
We've tried to keep the math pretty simple, so 100 STATION-TOKENS(tm) equals $AUD1.00 in real money.
How Do I Use MY STATION-TOKENS(tm)?
After you place and pay for your order, STATION-TOKENS(tm) move into "PENDING" Status for your DVDOWN UNDER Account.
Your STATION-TOKENS(tm) can be "CLAIMED" once you have received your order and it checks out okay.
What steps do I need to go through so I may claim MY STATION-TOKENS(tm)?
1.) Log on to your DVDOWN UNDER Account. (If successful you will be taken to your "My Details" page).
2.) From within your main account area select the 3rd header down labelled "Station-Tokens(tm)"
3.) Any orders that we have shipped which you haven't yet claimed the points for will be displayed on this page.
To the RIGHT of any UNCLAIMED Order Station-Tokens(tm) you will see a TICK BOX (called TICK TO COLLECT).
Tick this box for ANY orders that you have received.
4.) CLICK "Collect These Station-Tokens" (This will take you to a Station-Tokens Confirmation Page)
5.) Once you have read the disclaimer message click YES if you agree to the terms.
6.) When logged-on and at the Check-Out, any available Station-Tokens(tm) will deducted from your order by selecting the option to apply any available discount.
What type of purchases can I Use My STATION-TOKENS(tm) for?
